// LORE ECHO XXXIX Who can use magic in New Eden? Long before Kai was understood, there were those who had learned to work with its subtle forces without fully knowing its true nature. For millennia, they remained few and hidden. With a widespread understanding of Kai and its use these previously hidden paths became more accessible, but still required a great deal of training to manipulate it. The emergence of Keepers, those born naturally attuned to Kai energy, changed everything. For the first time in human history (bar a few unique cases), individuals without any devotional training discovered they could impact the world around them in miraculous ways. The ability to manipulate the elements; create new material forms; reach into the astral realms; or bend the fabric of reality itself suddenly became within reach of those now born attuned. Within a variety of different ‘spheres’ of magic, related closely to the colour spectrum and how it impacts Kai energy, Keepers began to experiment. They learned from practitioners who had been studying hidden for millennia, but quickly strengthened their abilities in ways the mystery traditions could once only dream of. The choice of which sphere/s to pursue is up to each individual and how far they want to develop their attunement. Different factions, temples and havens dedicate themselves to the study of magical ability in a variety of ways. Each with their own forms of admission, training and secrets resulting from investigation into such arcane arts. Magic is a Royal Art. Each practitioner grows with the aid of the cosmos itself, assisted by the guidance of those who have walked the path before them. Certain abilities, once learned, are passed on to others. There is much overlap in the journey that each practitioner takes, because effects learned can be replicated. Choosing a faction, haven or other group to align with becomes an important part of the journey. In the end, however, it is one each Keeper ultimately takes alone. Their own solitary dance with the cosmos, expressed through words and deeds. Many see the impact of Kai in the world; others become attuned to it; but few are able to walk in step with its song with the full depth of their being. For those who do, the path demands more than ability alone. The use of Kai energy can be as destructive as it is creative... ...the true adept is one that understands this duality and can reconcile it within every single action. Keep. Protect. Reimagine.
