BlackRock’s Rick Rieder jumps to 60% odds on Polymarket for next Fed Chair.
Current odds:
• Rick Rieder: 59.9%
• Kevin Warsh: 22%
Bloomberg News (Jan 23): Trump has finished interviews and already has a favorite. Rieder impresses with his central-banker gravitas + bold Fed reform ideas. Announcement could come as soon as next week.
Who is Rick Rieder?
Rick Rieder, Senior Managing Director, is BlackRock's Chief Investment Officer of Global Fixed Income, Head of the Fundamental Fixed Income business and Head of the Global Allocation Investment Team. Responsible for managing roughly $2.4 trillion in assets, Mr. Rieder is a member of BlackRock’s Global Executive Committee (GEC) and its GEC Investment Sub-Committee. He also is Chairman of the firm-wide BlackRock Investment Council.
Two bull cases if Rieder wins:
1. RWA onboarding becomes much smoother, lower regulatory friction, faster institutional inflows
2. Strengthens U.S. debt resolution and bond market stability, enabling more efficient Treasury issuance and balance-sheet repair, aligned with the policy objectives of the current administration.
Rieder running the Fed = massive tailwind for RWA & ETH. RWA season is coming stronger.
