Bloomberg: Apple is developing a tabletop robot, set for a 2027 release, as a key part of its AI strategy, and has loosely discussed humanoid models. The table top device, resembling an iPad on a movable arm, can swivel the display to follow users, mimicking human head movements to engage with people speaking or summoning it. Designed for desks or kitchen counters, it aims to assist with tasks, media consumption, and daily management. A standout feature is an advanced Siri, integrated into the device’s operating system, capable of joining multi-person conversations, suggesting ideas like restaurant recommendations, and recalling information for planning or tasks. The robot, with an iPad like display and a motorized arm extending the screen half a foot in any direction, enhances FaceTime by tracking people or allowing iPhone-controlled movement during calls. Dubbed “Bubbles,” Siri may take a visual form on screen similar to playful Memoji characters. Apple is also exploring other robots, including a wheeled mobile bot and a large mechanical arm for manufacturing, and has loosely discussed humanoid models. A stripped-down version of the tabletop robot, which is just a standalone display, is slated to launch mid-next year.
