1. HistoSonics, the company that developed a technology that uses sound waves, not surgery or radiation, to destroy tumors, just received a $2.25 billion investment from a group that includes Jeff Bezos’s investment firm and Michael Kives and Bryan Baum’s K5 Global.
The technology was cleared by the FDA last year for liver cancer and has already been used on more than 2,000 patients.
HistoSonics plans to expand the treatment to other cancers such as kidney, pancreas, and prostate.
