"Looking for the Zodiac - Dog Head"
Episode 1
This week in Washington, D.C
After the meeting, we immediately drove to Front Royal, a town 1 hour from Washington
Front Royal is a small town in Virginia, United States
Why are you here?
Because a few months ago I stumbled upon a piece of news:
Andy Zheng, a Chinese in the United States, bought the head of a dog suspected of being one of the twelve beasts in the Old Summer Palace for $1,000 in 2009.
From these fragments of news in the past, there is very little information that can be learned, Andy Zheng, a Chinese who opened a Chinese restaurant in the Virginia town of Front Royal, bought a suspected Old Summer Palace dog head in a thrift store in Winchester (another town near Front Royal) in 2009.
After arriving at Front Royal, my assistant Ah Niu and I googled all the local Chinese restaurants, there were a total of 6, except for Panda fast food, there were 5 left, so we started to "explore the store" one by one
The first one, when we opened to the door, we found that it was a Mexican restaurant, Google clearly showed that it was Hongkong Hotel, when we went in, the Mexican waiter told us: Hongkong Hotel was closed in the year of the epidemic, so they sold this store.
Then we went to the second place
The second one, we continued to follow the navigation to the address, and the building was empty again, with a "Closed" sign hanging on the door.
After another failure, we came to the third one
Jinhua Hotel
We arrived at 5:00 pm and the store was still open
We walked in with great excitement
There were no customers in the store, only a Chinese lady waiter sat at the front desk, and out of politeness, we found a seat and sat down, ordered two dishes, a dry fried beef noodle and a plate of peanuts, and then chatted with the lady;
I asked: How many Chinese are there in this town now?
She: Not much, basically all left, there are still a dozen left, right?
I asked again: There are no Chinese here, why do you open a Chinese restaurant here?
She: Hey, when we first came to the United States, we were in New York, because our relatives were here, so they called us over...
In this way, there were a few pleasantries...
